 Executive Director for the Enlisted Association of National Guard – Utah (EANGUT)

We are a small military non-profit seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization through our next period of growth. We are a (501(c)19); most of our members are Veterans. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our organization, ensuring that we are operating efficiently and effectively to meet goals & priorities spelled out by the Executive Council. In this role, you can be the face of our organization but are also expected to work behind the scenes to ensure the members of the organization are being supported. You will work closely with a member elected Executive Council, community members and members of the Utah National Guard. You will ensure that elected members (and appointed committees) are supporting the vision, priorities and mission spelled out by the organization President and that we are working together to successfully achieve strategic objectives. Our non-profit has a close-knit culture in which we place a high priority of communication, recognition and collaboration. We are in search of an Executive Director who is aligned with our culture and will continue to enhance it through positive leadership.

 

Executive Director responsibilities

  • Work closely with EANGUT’s highly engaged Executive Council and appointed committees to establish shared goals, direction, and vision for the organization
  • Facilitate organizational planning, including fundraising and Conference planning, while aligning the allocation of the budget
  • Support the staff in their efforts to improve programs and launch new initiatives
  • Assist the Executive Council in managing critical organizational functions
  • Ensure commitment to and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across the organization
  • Create a culture of transparency and communication throughout the organization
  • Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, including Vendor/Sponsors and Senior State and Federal leaders
  • Proactively address challenges in the internal and external environment to protect organizational interests
  • Resolve Membership issues (familiarity with Stripe payment system and basic Website design are desired)

 

Executive Director skills

  • Deep, passionate commitment to the advancement of benefits for the enlisted members of the Utah National Guard
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership role managing people, engaging their participation in decision-making, and supporting them in their growth
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategic plans
  • Deep understanding of fundraising, budgeting and tax preparation for non-profits
  • Strong aptitude for verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship development
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in management and governance
  • Experience with membership organizations, networks, or coalitions
